Work Impactful Message: UNFPA - GBV

GBV-AoR’s website map diagram

Overview

UNFPA is one of UN’s lead agencies working to further gender equality and women’s empowerment, taking under its umbrella Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR). The latter works to improve the effectiveness and accountability of humanitarian response for the prevention, risk mitigation, and response to all forms of gender-based violence.

The goal of the GBV AoR website is to be the information hub for tools, resources, community, and vacancies, in support of communities and people affected by gender-based violence.

What we did

  • Experience design research
  • Stakeholder and user interviews (world-wide)
  • Information architecture
  • Annotated wireframes and clickable prototype
  • Detailed UI design

It was very inspiring to work with the topic of gender-based violence, as it is one of the primary areas for bringing positive impact for our team. Our aim is to bring empathy and support in understanding the people and communities affected by violence.

Design process

Our team reached out to the GBV AoR network, including members from UNFPA, UNICEF, and other protection areas to understand their activities, needs, and challenges. Through detailed information architecture, content mapping, wireframing, and UI design, our team proposed a design solution that would provide an easy access to critical information.

Our solution focused on an intricate Tools and Resources section - key for GBV coordinators, direct access to support and GBV communities, as well as highlighting the storytelling through news, articles, and events.

Our impact

People working in the Gender-based Violence Area of Reponsibility undertake an important and a challenging task. As such, having a place to access resources in a simple and intuitive way that will help and guide them in their path of working with affected communities removes a part of their burden and supports their activities.

Having easy access to news, tools, documents, and their community unifies the efforts in that field, making their direct impact more rapid and efficient.
